| Jadeite, a well-known and widely cherished gemstone, is a polycrystalline aggregate primarily composed of pyroxene minerals dominated by jadeite. Due to its unique material properties, aesthetic craftsmanship, and cultural significance, it has become a focal point in the jewelry market in recent years. This article explores the chemistry behind jadeite by examining the classification of natural jadeite, its chromogenic mechanisms, and the processing techniques used in artificial jadeite (including acid treatment, polymer impregnation, and dyeing). It aims to construct a materials science-based framework for understanding jadeite and to guide consumers in making informed and rational purchasing decisions. |
